[Introduction]

Sports Engineering is an interdisciplinary field that explores fundamental scientific theories and methodologies for applying various engineering technologies in sports. By integrating engineering principles and technical approaches, it optimizes athletic equipment, enhances performance, facilitates rehabilitation, and resolves practical sports-related challenges, thereby providing technical support and theoretical foundations for sports science and athletic practice. Key interdisciplinary components include computer science and technology, electrical and electronic engineering, automatic control, and mechanical engineering. The discipline currently employs one tenured associate professor/researcher, three researchers under the “Hundred Talents Program,” and one specially appointed researcher.

In recent years, the discipline has undertaken multiple national-level research projects, including the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National Social Science Fund, and sub-projects under the National Key R&D Program. It has also completed over ten scientific research and technology service projects commissioned by the General Administration of Sport of China. The discipline has played a crucial technological role in supporting national teams preparing for major international competitions like the Olympics and Asian Games, garnering coverage from CCTV News and other domestic and international media. Research focuses on sports artificial intelligence, intelligent sports equipment, athletic data sensing, and performance analysis. Over 100 papers have been published in prestigious domestic and international journals, including Science subjournals. Recent accolades include 4 Best Paper Awards and nominations at high-level international conferences, 1 Zhejiang Province Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation, and 1 Zhejiang University Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation. Over 30 patents have been authorized. The team has established distinct expertise in sports AI and intelligent sports equipment.
